MATIP

Entebbe Municipality will see Kitooro Market redeveloped into a modern facility following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Entebbe Municipal Council and the Ministry of Local Government on the 31st March at the Imperial Resort Beach Hotel Entebbe.

Markets and Agricultural Trade Improvement Programme, Project-1 (MATIP -1) implementation began in May 2010 and ended December 2015. Under MATIP-1, numerous achievements have been registered and on account of this good performance, Government of Uganda secured funding from the African Development Bank (ADB) to construct 11 markets under the Markets and Agricultural Trade Improvement Programme Project-2 (MATIP-2).

11 municipalities including Entebbe will benefit under the Markets and Agricultural Trade Improvement Project 2 (MATIP-2). The specific objective of MATIP 2, is to improve marketplace economic and social infrastructure thus inducing incremental production and marketing of agricultural commodities, enhancing the incomes of vendors, reducing post-harvest losses, increasing employment and customer satisfaction.

Entebbe Municipality is among the 11 municipalities that are set to benefit from the project.
