Chairs council meetings, steers discussions on budgets, development plans, and service delivery. The Mayor’s leadership shapes policy direction

• External representation & stakeholder links

Interfaces with national bodies (e.g., UCAA for transit projects), universities, private investors, NGOs, and donors to attract support and resources

• Public service delivery & project management

Oversees municipal services (road maintenance, waste management, street lighting) and initiates development programs like playground refurbishment, market regulation, transport systems, and planning infrastructure .

• Advisory & inclusive governance

Works closely with the voluntary MDF, town clerk, and municipal executive to foster inclusive decision-making, ensuring all community sectors are represented in policy formulation 

• Conflict mediation & civic unity

Handles contentious issues like market trader dynamics and transportation reforms, emphasizing collaboration, forgiveness, and working with all political parties to drive development
