Entebbe Municipality Launches PDM: A Bold Step Towards Prosperity

Entebbe, September 11, 2023 – In a significant stride towards improving the lives of households entrenched in the subsistence economy, Entebbe Municipality proudly unveiled the Parish Development Modal (PDM). Spearheaded by the dynamic Town Clerk, Mr. Emmanuel Mugisha Gacharo, and his dedicated technical team, the launch event was a testament to the community’s determination to uplift their standard of living.

The event, held at a festive gathering, was graced by the presence of the esteemed Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Wakiso Mbabazi Justine, who served as the guest of honor. Accompanying her was the Deputy RDC of Entebbe, Jacqueline Kankunda, and a host of other dignitaries, including Kakembo Michael Mbwatekamwa, MP for Entebbe Municipality, councilors, and various political representatives.

A highlight of the day was the distribution of PDM funds to beneficiaries from registered savings and credit cooperative organizations (SACCOs). Each beneficiary received a substantial sum of 1,000,000 UGX, a boost that promises to significantly change their economic circumstances.

One notable aspect of the program was the seamless execution facilitated by the Post Bank team Entebbe branch. Their tireless collaboration with the Entebbe Municipal Council’s technical team ensured that beneficiaries received their funds efficiently through the innovative Wendi app.

The Parish Development Modal (PDM) marks a pivotal moment in the journey towards economic empowerment in Entebbe Municipality. This ambitious government strategy aims to break the cycle of subsistence living, offering households the means to improve their incomes and overall quality of life. Under the dynamic leadership of Mr. Emmanuel Mugisha Gacharo, the Municipality is determined to drive the PDM government program to its fullest for sustainable change and prosperity.

Hon. Mbabazi Justine, in her capacity as the RDC of Wakiso, expressed her optimism about the PDM initiative. Deputy RDC Jacqueline Kankunda echoed these sentiments, underscoring the Municipality’s commitment to lifting its citizens out of poverty and providing them with opportunities to thrive.
